Alpa Super Maica

One of the boat I like more:

Alpa Super Maica
It's one of the prettiest design of John Illingworth and Angus Primrose. This is the new version of the classic Maica, with a separate skeg and wheel rudder. It was produced in Italy during the early '70 by Cantieri Alpa. Has a fiberglass hull with teak deck. It's absolutely beautiful sailboat...

Alpa 9

The only words Illingworth spends about this sailboat are the following: "...at the time of writing one offshore yacht to our design comes off the line about every four days; either the Alpa "11", the Alpa 9 or the Alpa 8; to Class III, IV and V respectively."

Produced from 1967 to 1971 by Cantieri Alpa, it's a 1966-67 design. A '30 foot sloop rigged with 5 berths. I own this sailboat since 11 years and it's really a joy to sail.

The underbody resembles the Gipsy Moth IV, full keed very sturdy.

It's a sailboat designed for Med cruising in mind: an ample cockpit, well areated, big sail surface.

Going to winward with this boat it's really a pleasure; it heels until 15-20°, puts the rail in the water, and then stops it. Great fun...
